Natasha Henstridge is a model turned actress who shot to fame among science fiction fans as sil, a genetically engineered human/alien hybrid who, upon escaping, discovers an uncontrollable urge to mate. She is a black widow, unfortunately, which forced fans to wonder whether SETI is worthwhile. Sure, it might bring a sex partner like Henstridge, but death? That is a high price to pay.
