Sci Fi Girl #29--Angelina Jolie

Kate "Acid Burn” Libby--Hackers
Lara Croft--Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life
Franky--Sky Captain and the world of Tomorrow
Beowolf’s mother--Beowolf

Does anyone remember Angelina Jolie got her first non=straight to video role in the cyberpunk classic Hackers? Do not fret if was not on you radar. I have not been much of a jolie fan until some of her recent action film efforts, but I sat through Hackers once with some computer geek buddies a few years ago. Hackers is to computer geeks what Road House is to rednecks who think they can fight. Neither one does anything for me.

As noted, Jolie has not been able to hold my interest until recent years, which would exclude her turn as Lara Croft. The whole Tomb Raider idea is meant to be an homage to Indiana Jones. Indiana Jones, in turn, is an homage to movie serial heroes of the ’30’s-’40’s. what you have with Lara croft is a copy of a copy of source material which, while fun in its own right, is not all that great. Hence, the films needed Jolie to cavort around with CGI enhanced breats to fill theater seats. If you have seen both of them, there is four hours of your life you will never get back.

So why include her on the list of Sci Fi Girls? The cyberpunk crowd still claims her for one. She is still considered incredibly hot by many, for another. I also found a bikini photo of her before she tattooed a Russian novel on her body and thought I would share.
